When compared to other joining methods like threaded fasteners, spot welds, tack welds, rivets or nails, band clamps possess several inherent strengths and benefits. Unlike other joining methods where the point of attachment is often just a point, significantly altering the items being joined, band clamps spread their clamping force out across the full perimeter or contact area of the items they are joining. This allows the joint to be formed without alteration of the items being joined. With these other joining methods all the attachment force is focused into a single point and the stresses imparted are focused to that point. These stresses can often have negative effects on the items, or materials being joined due to significantly alteration of those items.
Since its foundation in 1981, Steve Vick International has been at the leading edge of trenchless techniques for the repair and renovation of underground gas distribution pipes. In the UK we are major suppliers to the gas distribution networks and many of our techniques have become accepted practice in the industry. With the massive 30-year programme under way to renew the UK’s ageing gas distribution network, we are constantly seeking to provide our customers with renewal methods which will minimise their costs and maximise their production. As the dual pressures of cost and environmental implications of open trenching increase, pipe insertion is becoming the preferred method of meeting renewal targets. Our resin foam sealant products and associated equipment are key to many of the insertion methods used.

If there is one word that people associate with Sheffield it is steel. The city, (then a mere town) was known for the production of knives in the 14th century, and by 1600 had become the main centre for cutlery manufacture in England. In the 1740s, a form of the crucible steel process was discovered that allowed the manufacture of better quality steel and this innovation spurred the growth of Sheffield as an industrial town. And it was not long after - in 1760 - when the foundations of the one of the city's best known firms, and one synonymous with steel; Spear & Jackson, were laid.
